Bin and Bunker Flow Issues
SAFER WORK ENVIRONMENT
Pneumat Bin and Bunker Solutions:
Problem: Hot lime bins and screw
feeders are subject to frequent flow problems.
Pneumat Solution: Having
base sockets welded in strategic places on the side of these bins
would allow for easy access for our Cardox
solution. AirForce Air Cannons (formerly
LADCO) in different spots can also be used in these types of situations.
With a control-timing box, it makes make bulk flow safer, faster,
easier. Either system can break up any blockage from outside the
bin so that no employee will be exposed to hot lime.
Many times, an attempt is made to
clear blockages with high air pressure hoses, poking and pounding.
These all expose employees to safety incidents and environmental
concern from the discharges of fine lime dust to surrounding areas.
Problem:
Powdered Potassium Chloride (KCI) and other minerals that help “wash-up”
the steel and/or other ore types are hung up in the bins and bunkers.
Pneumat Solution: It is these types
of situations that the BinWhip and BinDrill
have been designed for. Poking, prying, air lancing isn’t
effective and requires the hassles and issues of getting a confined
space entry permit. It’s also extremely dangerous for employees
because there is no way to determine when the product will give
away.
Drill a hole through the bridged-over
bin or bunker then set the BinWhip up and whip it out to create
good flow and a safer work environment. If your company doesn’t
have the time or manpower to do your bins, TeamPneumat
will come do it for you. It doesn’t matter the product in
any bin or silo, BinWhip and BinDrill can get it out safely.
Problem: Coal bin has hang-ups on it that
need to be cleared out.
Pneumat Solution: BinWhip
can really tear into coal and make quick work of knocking down build-ups
in bins and/or bunkers. AirForce Cannons
(formerly LADCO) and Cardox have been
used successfully for years throughout coal handling equipment all
over the world. They both have a long history as a safe, effective
way of removing coal from a face with dramatic reductions in fines
produced.
Coal gets hung-up or built-up for
various reasons and can make a range of limited flow to no flow.
It is all relative to the surface moisture, particle size, clay
content and changes in density. TeamPneumat
has experience cleaning all types of vessels that contain coal.
